Aspendale

Aspendale is a residential suburb in the state of Victoria located some 27 kilometres south-south-east of Melbourne, the state capital. The community, situated along the eastern shoreline of Port Philip Bay, has an estimated population of 6,404 residents and occupies a land area of 2.9 square kilometres. The suburb, which was once home to the Aspendale Park Racecourse, was named after the racehorse Aspen.

While Aspendale today is part of the Local Government Area of the City of Kingston, it previously was part of the City of Chelsea, and the Shire of Carrum prior to that. The suburb is situated within the State District of Carrum (in the Victorian Legislative Assembly), as well as the Federal Division of Isaacs (in the Australian House of Representatives). The community is surrounded by the suburbs of Aspendale Gardens, Braeside, Chelsea Heights, Edithvale, and Mordialloc.

Whether it is local sports or fun activities, there will always be something for the residents and visitors of Aspendale to participate in and enjoy. Some of the community's recreational facilities include Aspendale Cricket Club, Aspendale Life Saving Club, Rossdale Golf Course, and Victorian Game Fishing Club.

Aspendale also has something to offer its nature-lovers, thanks to the gardens, parks, and reserves in and around the area. Some of the community's easily accessible locales include Browns Reserve, Iluka Reserve, McCully Oval, Memorial Oval, and Regents Park.

One of Aspendale's more popular locations is the Aspendale Beach, a three-kilometre stretch of coastline fronting Port Philip Bay.
